STORIES FROM THE ROAD: STEPPING STONES

I've been hanging out with poet lorikeats and lagging behind the love jet. Sharing tall tales at the Hotel Blue, the Shack, and Illawarra Folk Club. Staying in Woy Woy. "Woy it's called Woy Woy," said Spike Milligan, "I don't know." It's an aboriginal name for water, and there is plenty of it on this peninsula. I'm happy to be lost in nostalgia as my childhood comes back to me, like a splinter that needs digging out.

These are the stepping stones of my childhood.

THE AUSTRALIAN TOUR CONTINUES...

A big shout out to Russell Hannah, and the crew at the Illawarra Folk Club in Wollongong. It was a windy chilly Aussie night, but great sets by Claire Roberts and Emma Nixon/Ian McKenzie from the Black Bear Duo warmed us all up. Thanks for the walloping fine playing.

Special thanks to Claire for the pic and for digging a splinter out of my clawhammer finger. I cannot remember how it got there, but it had to come out.

Till the next time!

The tour continues tonight at The Shack.

ON THE ROAD: SUMMER TOURS, 2016

Greetings!

I just wanted to remind folks that I'll be hitting the road (well the airport) tomorrow for the start of this summer's tours from Australia to Texas, and into Canada. I look forward to meeting many familiar faces, and new friends as I ramble around. Spread the word!!

VINCENT CROSS:CLUB PASSIM CAMPFIRE FESTIVAL, 2016- BOSTON-(MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND)

Hey Folks!

This Memorial Day weekend head up to Boston and check out the "single-biggest talent hot spot" the Club Passim Campfire Festival.

This will be my first time to play in the Boston area, so folks come up, come out and have a listen to what can only be more songwriters in one room than you've ever seen (maybe). I'll be playing on the Saturday 28th, 3:45-5:05pm and sharing the stage with three fine songwriters: Carl CachoBill ScorzariRob Siegel.

WRAPPING UP THE YEAR OF 2015

Wow! 2015 was a year on steroids! I am so appreciative of your support of my music, and thank folks for coming out to the shows, buying the music, listening on the radio or streaming.

There were so many highlights in 2015 - a solo European tour which brought me to Norway, Scotland,Czech Republic, England, Ireland and Switzerland. I opened for one of my heroes, Richard Buckner at Union Hall in Brooklyn. I also had time to write and record new music to share with you in Feb 2016. I'll have more news about that in January, and I'll be announcing more tour dates early next year, too, starting with South Florida Folk Festival, and showcases at the International Folk Alliance in Kansas City.

Wishing you all a relaxing and festive holiday season,

See you next year!

Folksy stuff...

On returning from NERFA (North Eastern Folk Alliance), I've been blown away by the power of songs, and how they make you feel. With so much technological change in the music business, an artist can often feel that their medium is no longer relevant. However, I'm feeling revitalized that the craft of songs cannot really be altered by such changes.

Thanks to hosts Rick Vine, Michael Kornfeld, Carter Smith, Alan Rowoth, and Molly Herbert Wilson,  Also, special thanks to Cole Quest Rotante for the image.

THE FALLING SEASON...

As we enter the falling season there is always so much going on: sessions, hoots, and all manner of folk revivals. If you’re about and looking for something to do, mark your calendars for some seasonal events coming up:

WED DEC 16, 9 PM - Sheriff Bob’s Hillbilly Session, NYC (featured performer Vincent Cross)

WED JAN 6, 8 PM- Danyell’s Kitchen, Northport, NY

SUN APRIL 3, 7PM- Fourth Annual Woody Guthrie Brooklyn Hoot •  (Featuring Vincent Cross • Mike Glick • Beth Kotkin • Joel Landy • Anne Price • Steve Suffet)

FALL SHOWS IN NYC!!

I am absolutely buzzing to opening up for one of my all time favorite artists at Union Hall. This is the perfect place to see a great songwriter, musician and performer of unique quality (I aint to shabby myself).

NOV 8. THE SCRATCHER SESSIONS (2 ACTS)

I've spoken of the wonders of this venue, and how it's run. It's something special on the Lower East Side that I ask you to come and experience. The last time I played there I was on before Mark Dignam who is one of my favorite songwriters from Dublin. To my great surprise his close buddy Glen Hansard came down and sat through both sets. You never know who might come down to this best kept songwriting secret in ole NYC.

DETAILS IN THE SHOWS SECTION.

New Album Coming Soon!

Album #3 is almost ready, but here's a sweet review from Holland on A Town Called Normal:

"With this album Vincent Cross digs deeper into the American music history. Although bluegrass is still here, folk, down home country blues, country, old jazz and even indie rock make their debut. With 11 original songs Cross also proves his phenomenal songwriting."
